Practise converting between mass, moles, particle number and single-atom mass using molar mass and Avogadro’s constant in short numerical questions.
How this is tested
- calculate particle number from a sample mass and molar mass, then multiply moles by Avogadro’s constant
- determine the mass of one atom by dividing molar mass in kg by 6.02 × 10^23 and checking powers of ten
- compare numbers of atoms in different samples by using mass-to-molar-mass ratios rather than absolute masses alone
