How this is tested
- use n = c/v or wavelength ratios to calculate refractive index, and read a graph gradient with uncertainty
- explain pulse broadening with a fibre diagram by linking wavelength-dependent n to different travel times
- use the graded-index model to state that longer-path rays move faster, reducing waveguide dispersion
