IB Chemistry HL 1.1.4 Standard enthalpy change (ΔH⦵)

IB Chemistry syllabusFirst assessment 2025
Practise standard enthalpy calculations from water-heating data, using `q = mcΔT`, correct units, and the right sign for ΔH.
How this is tested
- find ΔH°combustion from fuel burned, water mass, and ΔT, then convert the result to kJ mol−1
- use q = mcΔT to assign the correct sign for ΔH when a reaction mixture warms or cools in calorimetry
- rearrange q = mcΔT to calculate temperature rise, heat transferred, or specific heat capacity
