  • identify one dominant and one recessive symbol, or two distinct codominant symbols, as heterozygous
  • select heterozygous parents or offspring from a genetic diagram

17.4.6—Heterozygous as having two different question 1

[Maximum number: 1]

Anthocyanin is a red pigment found in carnation flowers. Some carnation plants have a gene for making anthocyanin.

Carnation plants show co-dominance for the anthocyanin gene. There are two alleles:
- FA\quad \mathbf{F}^{\mathbf{A}} - allele for anthocyanin pigment (red flowers)
- FN\mathbf{F}^{\mathbf{N}} - allele for no anthocyanin pigment (white flowers)

State the genotype of a carnation plant that is heterozygous for this gene.
