IB Physics SL C.3.2 Snell’s law
IB Physics SL C.3.2 Snell’s law

IB Physics syllabusFirst assessment 2025
Practise applying Snell's law to boundary and wavefront diagrams, measuring angles to the normal, and deciding how ray paths change between media.
How this is tested
- substitute angles measured to the normal into Snell's law to calculate an unknown angle or wave speed
- use a wavefront or boundary diagram to choose the correct angle pair before writing the sine ratio
- decide from refractive indices and ray direction whether a transmitted ray must exist at the interface
