Practise tracing rays through lenses, mirrors, and telescopes by completing ray diagrams, applying focal-length equations, and stating thin-lens assumptions.
How this is tested
- complete a ray diagram by sending a ray parallel to the axis through the focal point and locating the image
- use 1/f = 1/u + 1/v with correct sign choices to calculate focal length from a mirror or lens diagram
- state the thin-lens model assumption that a central ray is undeviated because the lens faces are nearly parallel
