IB Physics SL A.3.12 Power

IB Physics SL A.3.12 Power
IB Physics syllabusFirst assessment 2025

Practise using power as energy transferred per unit time in contexts from springs and motors to orbital energy loss and wind turbines.

How this is tested

  • calculate average power from an energy change over time, including kinetic or gravitational energy found earlier
  • apply efficiency to move between input and useful power, with careful unit conversion for minutes, kJ and kW
  • interpret model equations for drag or wind flow to derive power expressions and state the final SI unit correctly
