B.3.5—Ideal gas equations Topic Practice

IB Physics syllabusPhysics SL/HLFirst assessment 2025
Practise applying ideal gas equations in context, substituting p, V, T, n or N carefully and handling unit conversions in multistep calculations.
How this is tested
- calculate an unknown p, V or T from pV = nRT after converting temperature to kelvin and volumes to m^3
- use pV = NkT to find the number of molecules, often from a graph value of pV or from fixed room conditions
- link equal p, V and T to equal molecule number, then compare samples by mass or density rather than by pressure
