A.2.18—Impulse-momentum change Topic Practice

IB Physics syllabusPhysics SL/HLFirst assessment 2025
Practise using momentum change and contact time to calculate average force, and reasoning about rebounds, impacts and safer stopping in collisions.
How this is tested
- calculate average force from mass, rebound speeds and contact time using F = Δp/Δt, with unit conversions
- interpret rebounds from walls or rackets by taking direction into account when finding momentum change
- explain why a flexible barrier reduces harm by increasing stopping time for the same change in momentum
