How to study Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Chemistry 4CH1
Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Chemistry 4CH1 is an untiered four-section course. Build every idea across macroscopic evidence, particle or structure model, symbolic representation and quantitative relationship. Connect formulae, equations and calculations to ionic bonding and use the same evidence chain for chemical tests. Paper 1C excludes bold C statements; Paper 2C may assess every statement.
Rebuild the chemical model in Concept and retrieve terminology, equations, conditions, observations and paper scope in Mastery. Apply them through the Question Bank using unfamiliar calculations, graphs and written investigations. Classify the first lost decision as knowledge, representation, equation, mole ratio, unit, observation, command word or experimental reasoning, repair that precise Topic or skill and retry before mixed timed work.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Chemistry 4CH1 assessment
This linear, untiered qualification has two written papers. Paper 1C assesses non-bold statements without C references; Paper 2C assesses all content, including C statements. Both mix multiple-choice, short answers, calculations and extended open responses.

No. The linear 4CH1 qualification has no Foundation, Higher, Core or Extended candidate tiers, and every candidate takes both Paper 1C and Paper 2C. Pearson's core-content language describes the non-bold Paper 1 scope only. The current specification is Issue 3, September 2024, graded 9–1.
No. Paper 2C can assess all specification content, including the bold statements marked with a C reference. Paper 1C assesses non-bold content without C references. Prepare the shared four-section foundation for both papers, then add the C depth for Paper 2C instead of treating the papers as separate Topic lists.
There is no separate practical paper or coursework component, but embedded investigations and experimental skills are assessed through both written papers. Practise apparatus, safe methods, variables, observations, precision, tables, graphs, conclusions, reliability, accuracy, validity and specific improvements alongside the chemical model that gives the experiment meaning.
Yes. Pearson expects a suitable electronic calculator for both papers, but devices cannot retrieve text or formulae or use a QWERTY keyboard. You still need to select the relationship, balance equations, show mole ratios and conversions, retain suitable precision, include units and test whether the result is chemically plausible.
