glucose/carbon/organic compounds oxidised/broken down to produce/release carbon dioxide;
carbon dioxide released from aerobic (cell) respiration AND anaerobic respiration in yeast/plants (but not animals);
carbon dioxide released from saprotrophs/detritivores/decomposers from dead organic matter / during decay/decomposition/respiration;
