How this is tested
- choose a micrometer for small diameters or a metre ruler for longer lengths, based on scale resolution
- read cylinder volume at the bottom of the meniscus with eye level and the vessel kept vertical
- find an unknown length by subtracting one measured length from another and stating the answer with units
