Practise predicting nuclear changes in alpha and beta decay by tracking proton and neutron numbers and linking beta decay to quark change.
How this is tested
- choose alpha, beta-minus, or beta-plus decay from whether a nucleus is neutron-rich or proton-rich
- track alpha and beta-minus steps on a neutron-proton chart to locate the final nuclide correctly
- link beta decay to neutron-proton conversion and state the quark change d -> u when required
