Practise comparing voltages in parallel and series parts of circuits, including voltmeter placement and battery voltage reasoning.
A student builds this electric circuit to measure the temperature of a room.

At 20∘C, the voltage across the thermistor is 3.9 V .
Explain why the reading on the voltmeter is 2.1 V.
- components are connected in series
- voltages must add up to 6.0 V
Accept:
- voltages must add up to battery voltage
- 6.0 - 3.9 = 2.1
Ignore:
- voltmeter is in parallel with the resistor
