A student wants to determine the density of air using an irregularly-shaped balloon made of metal foil.

The balloon has a label stating that the volume of the balloon when full is 490 cm3490 \mathrm{~cm}^{3}.

Step 1 measure the mass of the empty balloon
Step 2 fill the balloon with air
Step 3 measure the mass of the full balloon
Step 4 subtract the mass of the empty balloon from the mass of the full balloon.
