Edexcel IGCSE Chemistry Plot Two Variables

Practise Edexcel IGCSE Chemistry plotting two variables by placing data points accurately and drawing suitable best-fit curves.

Syllabus
Issue 3 (2024)
Course
Chemistry 4CH1

Exam points

  • Plot all reaction data points accurately to the nearest grid line or half square.
  • Draw a smooth curve of best fit after plotting the two variables from the table.
  • Ignore an anomalous point when drawing a best-fit curve if the graph evidence supports it.

4C Plot two variables question 1

[Maximum number: 2]

A student investigates the effect of temperature on the rate of reaction between two solutions, A and B . When the reaction occurs, the mixture turns from colourless to blue.

This is the student's method.
- pour 25 cm325 \mathrm{~cm}^{3} of solution A into a conical flask
- add solution B and measure the temperature of the mixture
- record the time taken for the mixture to turn blue

The student repeats this method at different temperatures.
