Practise explaining how roots and stems grow towards or away from light and gravity, using plant diagrams, pot experiments and tropism terminology.
The body has a hormonal control system that coordinates some of the body's responses.
Plants also respond to changes in their environment.
Explain how plants benefit from the responses of their roots and stems to the direction of light they receive.
An explanation makes reference to four of the following points:
1. stems (grow) towards light / positively phototropic / eq
2. (increase) photosynthesis / eq
3. away from competition / other plants / eq
4. roots (grow) away from light / negatively phototropic /eq
5. into soil / to absorb water / minerals / named mineral / for water / for minerals / for named mineral /eq
6. to anchor plant / eq
