Exam points

  • define electric current as the rate of flow of charge, expressed by the relationship I = Q/t
  • explain current between a charged sphere and Earth through electron attraction or potential difference

4.2.2.1—Electric current is related to the question 1

[Maximum number: 1]

The charge on the sphere in (b) is +2.0×105C+2.0 \times 10^{-5} \mathrm{C}. A high resistance wire is now connected between the sphere and earth. It takes 20 minutes for the sphere to become completely discharged through the wire.

Suggest why there is a current in the wire between the sphere and earth.
