Edexcel IGCSE Chemistry Analyse Data and Conclusions

Practise Edexcel IGCSE Chemistry analysing data and drawing conclusions by identifying anomalies, reading trends and interpreting reaction observations.

Syllabus
Issue 3 (2024)
Course
Chemistry 4CH1

Exam points

  • Circle anomalous points on practical graphs before drawing or interpreting the trend.
  • Deduce a relationship from data, such as carbon chain length and time to collect hydrogen.
  • Use observations such as no zinc left to conclude which reagent was in excess.

Analyse data and draw conclusions question 1

[Maximum number: 1]

A student investigates the effect of temperature on the rate of reaction between two solutions, A and B . When the reaction occurs, the mixture turns from colourless to blue.

This is the student's method.
- pour 25 cm325 \mathrm{~cm}^{3} of solution A into a conical flask
- add solution B and measure the temperature of the mixture
- record the time taken for the mixture to turn blue

The student repeats this method at different temperatures.

The table shows the student's results.
