Successful collection of data

Set up apparatus without assistance, follow written instructions and diagrams including circuit diagrams, collect an appropriate quantity of data, repeat readings where appropriate and use common laboratory apparatus correctly.

Use successful collection of data to connect the rule to the data and decision in the question.

This matters because successful collection of data determines what can be inferred or chosen; begin with the stated conditions and keep the conclusion tied to the evidence.

Example: apply successful collection of data to one small, clearly defined case, show the key step or comparison, and explain the result in words.

Boundary: Successful collection of data is not a universal recommendation. Check the syllabus scope, assumptions, units and the limits of the evidence before generalising.
