Find your International A-Level syllabus and course stage
International A-Level courses have different awarding bodies and assessment structures. Start with your school's qualification and specification, then select the matching course entry.
- A-Level subjects: choose CAIE or EdexcelUse your school specification or exam entry to identify Cambridge International (CAIE) or Pearson Edexcel International A-Level. The same subject name can have a different syllabus, paper organisation or marking guidance under each awarding body. International A-Level and UK GCE A-Level resources are not automatically interchangeable.
- AS and A2: check your qualification's structureIn Cambridge International study, AS covers part of the full A-Level syllabus and A2 refers to the remaining stage, rather than a separate qualification. Assessment options depend on the subject. Pearson Edexcel International AS/A Levels use a modular structure. The AS/A2 labels in this directory help you find available study branches; check your specification for the exact units and qualification requirements. A2 study does not mean that earlier AS knowledge can be ignored; check how the stages and assessment components fit together in your qualification.
- A-Level syllabus and specification: match the exam yearKeep the awarding body, full qualification name and syllabus or specification code together. For Cambridge, check the syllabus applicable to your examination year. For Edexcel, use the current specification and the relevant unit information. Confirm that older questions still match your course before using them to plan exam preparation. If AS and the full A-Level examination fall in different years, check the applicable syllabus for each.
- Choose your subject overview or exact course stageIf you are comparing available branches, open the subject name to read its overview. If you already know the stage you study, select its available level link to open the exact course. The directory retains the exam-board overview links so you can check other subjects without losing the qualification context.
- A-Level study resources: turn a syllabus gap into practiceOpen your exact course and choose a unit, topic or knowledge point. Use Diagnostic to help identify where to focus, then use Practice for that syllabus range. Review whether an error came from understanding, method or explanation, and return to the Course map to check your mastery when signed in. Use the course's available Notes, Question Bank and Documents for supporting study tasks.
