Barriers include unclear language, noise, information overload, status differences, cultural assumptions, poor timing, inaccessible channels and lack of feedback. They can arise at any stage.
Diagnose the mechanism before choosing a remedy: simplify, translate, confirm understanding, change channel, reduce volume or create psychological safety.
A technical instruction may fail because jargon hides the action, not because employees lack ability; a clear diagram and teach-back check may solve the barrier.
Repeating the same message louder does not remove a structural or cultural barrier.
