Students practise computing Pearson’s r and regression line y = ax + b from bivariate data, then interpreting gradient, correlation strength, and prediction validity.
How this is tested
- compute r and regression coefficients a, b using GDC or formulae; report r to three decimal places
- interpret gradient a as rate of change in y per unit increase in x, with units and context
- assess prediction validity using |r| > 0.8 threshold or justify via strength of linear association
