IB Chemistry 1.4.1 Mole (mol) Questions
IB Chemistry syllabusChemistry SL/HLFirst assessment 2025

Convert cleanly between grams, moles and particles, then count atoms or ions in molecules, hydrates and ionic compounds without losing factors.

How this is tested

  • find atoms in 7.75 g of P by converting mass to moles, then multiplying by Avogadro's constant
  • calculate total atoms from formula units, e.g. O atoms in CuSO4·5H2O or H atoms in NH3
  • count ions per formula unit before scaling by moles, e.g. ions in 0.20 mol of (NH4)2SO4
