IB Maths AA HL diagnostic: how it works
Check your understanding across a course, unit or topic, then use your report to choose what to practise next.
Should I choose Practice or Diagnostic?
Choose Practice when you know what you want to work on and want feedback after each question. Choose Diagnostic when you want to identify likely weak areas; feedback and results are shown after you finish.
What kinds of questions will I answer?
Available questions can include multiple-choice and written responses. The mix depends on the course, selected topics and available question pool.
How long does a diagnostic take?
Allow about 15–20 minutes for a course snapshot of up to 20 questions, 8–12 minutes for a unit check of up to 12 questions, or 5–8 minutes for a topic check of up to 8 questions. Actual length can vary with available questions.
What does my diagnostic report tell me?
Your report summarises evidence from your answers and helps you choose topics for follow-up practice. A short diagnostic samples your understanding; it is not a complete mastery assessment or a predicted exam grade.
