Practice Data collection technology

Technology is not automatically better. It is better only when the sensor and settings fit the phenomenon and the data can be verified.

Data loggers, sensors, video analysis, and smartphone apps can collect physics data.
Choose technology that measures the dependent variable directly or through a justified model.
Check calibration, zeroing, range, and resolution before collecting final data.
Sampling rate must be high enough for the time scale of the phenomenon.

Processing technology should make analysis clearer, not hidden. A reader must be able to trace raw data to processed data to conclusion.

Spreadsheets can calculate averages, uncertainties, gradients, and derived quantities.
Formula cells should be visible or described so calculations are reproducible.
Graphing tools should show axis labels, units, fit equation, and uncertainty treatment where relevant.
